"IMAGINARIUM: DAVID GOLDRAKE"
IMAGINARIUM: DAVID GOLDRAKE
Interview with Illusionist David Goldrake, “Imaginarium”
By Sandy Zimmerman
“Imaginarium” packs so much action and suspense into their show, its one thrill after another!
Every night David Goldrake attempts the same escape that killed Houdini, one of the most difficult escapes. David was handcuffed and shackled, not allowed much movement, lifted up and slowly dropped down head first into a glass tank filled with water. Under these conditions, the escape was dangerous and the slightest delay could make the difference.
David has the ability to hold his breath underwater for 2 minutes, 24 seconds. With his extensive repertoire of escapes, David risks his life performing this trick.
As the tension mounted, it was breathtaking watching each step before his finally escaped. Daring fate as he matched his abilities with this task, David proved he was the master of illusions opening night.
I had the opportunity to interview David Goldrake along the red carpet before the show.
David Goldrake explained, “We perform grand illusion, close-up magic, psychology, mentalism, interactive magic with the audience and segments with side-show performers who add a whole different dimension to the show.
SZ: “Your show doesn’t just include magic.”
DG: “Not just a magic show, more like a show with magic moments.”
SZ: “Will you surprise us tonight?”
DG: “Besides the magic we will have 3-D mapping, projections and an immersive experience for the audience instead of being passive spectators, they will have an active part.
SZ: “Imaginarium” sounds different from all of the other shows! When did you begin your magical career?”
DG: “I became fascinated with magic at the age of 8 after reading a magic magazine about making thimbles appear and disappear.”
David Goldrake is known as the ’International Man of Mystery’. His artistic versatility and ability to speak 7 languages fluently make him a unique magician, speaker and actor who has inspired audiences all over the world.
David Goldrake has performed for royalty, international celebrities and fortune 500 companies such as Berkshire Hathaway, Samsung Electronics, J.P. Morgan Chase and Disney. His performing venues have ranged from the Moroccan desert to the world's largest indoor stage at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV.
'IMAGINARIUM' is the place where all these elements come together and shatter your perception of reality! David Goldrake’s “Imaginarium” appears in the Tropicana Showroom, Tuesday to Sunday, dark Monday. Tickets-$45. 75 minutes, age 6+.
